This past month of October, a friend and myself paid $75 bucks to be part of a 30 day Art Challenge hosted by the TK Artists Lofts in downtown Seattle. I picked up my canvases on October 1st and the finished works are due today. Create 30 works of art in 30 days on the provided 8x10's. I've never done this much art in a single month in my life. Since there was such a tight deadline for each piece to be finished (roughly 1-2 paintings a worknight, 3-4 paintings on a weekend day), I used this opportunity to utilize them as comprehensives for a future series and also to master some painting techniques I have been playing with over this past year.

Cartoonish mythical creatures subjected to various real life personas. Juxtaposing them with some traditional archetypes made for some goofy ass images. Some turned out better than others and I definitely have my favorites, so I'm ready to realize a select few much larger and more detailed over this next year.

There will be a showing of these and the works of all the other participants on December 1st at the TK Artist Lofts (First Thursday's Pioneer Square Art Walk). They all will be available for sale at the showing. I'll post more details on this event as I get them.

Now that I got rid of that stupid Foosball table taking up all that valuable space in my studio, I should have no excuse to not continue on with some long neglected projects. It's not like that thing was my only obstacle between me and productivity. But, the removal of it is quite refreshing which is enough of an excuse to get back to my more flattering habits.
